Sunil Tantirige

Sunil Tantirige was born and raised in Sri Lanka. He completed his BASc in Chemical Engineering at University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka and then continued his studies at University of Toronto, where he completed a MASc and a PhD in Engineering.  He has worked over 25 years in the Canadian Nuclear Industry, specializing in Nuclear Reactor Safety.

To balance out the logical, scientific side of his brain, Sunil has wide interests in music and art. He was formally trained in Western classical violin from a young age and is a self-taught guitarist. He is a dedicated photographer; his landscape photography has been exhibited in Toronto-area shows. He has an extensive portfolio of photographs posted on National Geographic’s Your Shot site.

He and his family love to travel, and Sunil records everything he sees with his camera. His lifelong ambition is to one day retire to a beautiful tropical beach, where he wants to sit and contemplate the world with a nice cold one in hand, watching a beautiful sunset over the soothing sounds of breaking waves and gently swaying coconut trees.
